Erasmus with a twist

After the success of Erasmus for students, apprentices, young entrepreneurs, higher education professionals and journalists, ALDE’s Vice-President in the European Committee of the Regions François Decoster now urges for an Erasmus programme for local representatives.

François Decoster aims at relaunching the “Erasmus for local and regional elected representatives. This Erasmus initiative would allow elected representatives to enhance their knowledge about EU Cohesion Policy and regional politicians could thus also learn from each other and launch joint initiatives to the citizens’ benefit!

November 2017 François Decoster spoke at the ‘Fédération Nationale des Agences d’Urbanisme’; their “38e Rencontre des Agences” took place in Strasbourg. He stressed the essential role of local representatives to talk to citizens about the EU and its importance & benefits.

October 2017 During the European Week of Regions and Cities, François Decoster will chair the “Erasmus for local and regional representatives” workshop in the European Committee of the Regions. More information & registration:

30 May 2017 François Decoster discussed his report with Mercedes Bresso MEP, who was the initiator of the pilot project in 2012-2013 in her role as then President of the European Committee of the Regions.
